Context: As part of the Western Australia State Government’s development plan for Port Hedland, Roy Hill is increasing its export capacity at its port facility in the region. The development includes an additional ship berth at the Roy Hill site called Stanley Point Berth 3 (SP3).
Our Role: In partnership with ASPEC, our role was to complete the electrical, instrumentation and control detailed design for the port marine package. Our scope included the design of new high & low voltage reticulation, switchroom, substations, motor control centres, drives, instrumentation, PLC & control systems.
Key Outcomes: The project is currently on hold but was expected to provide the following key outcomes when constructed:
  • Increased capacity from 60 Mtpa to 110 Mtpa
  • New 40 Mtpa capacity shiploader.
  • Additional 4 km of conveying including an innovative ‘piggyback’ overland conveyor.
  • Separate switchroom, substation and control system from the existing operations, allowing for operational redundancy.
  • Use of an integrated 3D Navisworks model to show electrical equipment, cable ladder and lighting.

Context:Fremantle Port Authority were reviewing hazardous area compliance at one of their sites to ensure it is aligned with the latest Australian standards and site conditions.
Our Role:Our role was to review the Kwinana Bulk Jetty hazardous area system including the hazardous area classification report and isolation procedures for the Manifold area, Berth 3 and Berth 4.
Key Outcomes:

The project provided the following benefits:

  • Guidance and recommendations on meeting requirements of the latest hazardous area standard series (AS 60079)
  • Reclassification and hazardous area calculations of the sites to latest standards.

Context:As part of Austrak’s ongoing commitment to a high standard of electrical safety, Engenuity were invited to audit Austrak’s production sites. From these audits, the opportunity for a unified Electrical Safety Management System (ESMS) was identified.
Our Role:Engenuity were engaged to provide the comprehensive technical understanding of electrical safety and experienced electrical auditors necessary to inform an effective ESMS. The key deliverables required were an Electrical Safety Policy, Electrical Safety Management Plan and electrical procedure checklists and policies.
Key Outcomes:Applying learnings from the audit process and working collaboratively with Austrak, Engenuity ensured that the ESMS was practical and relevant to Austrak’s facilities while ensuring compliance across multiple state legislative requirements.
