Context:As part of Austrak’s ongoing commitment to a high standard of electrical safety, Engenuity were invited to audit Austrak’s production sites. From these audits, the opportunity for a unified Electrical Safety Management System (ESMS) was identified.
Our Role:Engenuity were engaged to provide the comprehensive technical understanding of electrical safety and experienced electrical auditors necessary to inform an effective ESMS. The key deliverables required were an Electrical Safety Policy, Electrical Safety Management Plan and electrical procedure checklists and policies.
Key Outcomes:Applying learnings from the audit process and working collaboratively with Austrak, Engenuity ensured that the ESMS was practical and relevant to Austrak’s facilities while ensuring compliance across multiple state legislative requirements.

Context:As part of their environmental improvement works, QAL in Gladstone were replacing their existing shiploader. This shiploader was designed and constructed by an overseas-based engineering company.
Our Role:Engenuity provided a technical and compliance review on the electrical and instrumentation components of the overseas machine in partnership with ASPEC (who provided mechanical/structural input).
Key Outcomes:

Engenuity not only assisted with ensuring the machine was compliant to Australian Standards, but then evolved into working as electrical project engineers on behalf of QAL, taking the lead in ensuring compliance, suitable documentation delivery and on-site inspections in both the UAE & Australia.

The shiploader was successfully commissioned at the end of 2023 and is currently operational.

Context:As part of their Rail Mounted Machinery standard, BMA required the creation of EIC inspection scopes of work for their machines to reduce risk and ensure potential problems are identified early.
Our Role:Engenuity provided inspection scopes of work for numerous machines across multiple BMA sites in partnership with ASPEC (who provided mechanical/structural input). This entailed site visits, document/drawing review and authoring of the scopes required, which were customised to the requirements of each site.
Key Outcomes:BMA now has clear methods for inspecting their machines and minimising the risks associated with protective device failure, machine collision, PLC modifications & electrical infrastructure concerns. This will also minimise unplanned downtime and associated revenue losses.

Context:Engenuity were invited to complete an equipotential bonding assessment of the AP1050 play structure. The assessment involved review of the as–constructed information, the current installation and a site inspection.
Our Role:Our role was to review the findings against the Australian Wiring Rules (AS/NZS 3000) including a Part 1 assessment to ensure a safe electrical installation.
Key Outcomes:

The project provided VRTP with a:

  • Detailed review of the equipotential bonding.
  • Risk assessment.
  • Investigation into supplementary or alternative bonding arrangements.
  • Engineering report outlining the outcome & recommendations for rectification works and equipotential bonding solutions.

Context:

Queensland WHS Regulation requires that modifications to amusement rides must have the design verified and registered (Form 14).

This upgrade included installation of backup generation and a new lift motor to allow passengers to disembark in the event of a power outage. The changes necessitated an electrical verification of the design against the Australian Safety of Machinery – Electrical Equipment standard (AS/NZS 4024.1204).

Our Role:Engenuity were engaged to provide RPEQ electrical design verification of the ride upgrade. Engenuity completed a technical review of the Manufacturer information to assess compliance and compile an electrical verification report. The review included analysis of the power system, engineering calculations, and inspection of the installation by a RPEQ engineer.
Key Outcomes:The services provided by Engenuity verified the ride’s safety and ensured compliance, resulting in successful ride registration.

Context:As part of their electrical safety improvement plan, one of the Qld theme park operators necessitate annual audits at their various sites. The audits ensure the organisation is giving effect to their electrical safety management system and the focus varies from year to year.
Our Role:For the past nine (9) years, Engenuity has provided the depth of electrical knowledge and technical insight in partnership with QRMC’s proficiency in risk and safety systems as a very experienced audit team to provide practical and relevant recommendations and advice.
Key Outcomes:Assisted the client to verify compliance and improve electrical safety on their sites. Each year a report is produced to identify trends and opportunities for continual improvement.

Context: As a prescribed electrical entity, Energy Qld is required by the ESO to have an accredited auditor perform an annual audit to ensure that the organisation is giving effect to their certified electrical safety management system.
Our Role: As a joint nominee on QRMC’s ESO accredited auditor license, this audit was undertaken as a team. Engenuity bringing the depth of technical experience to combine with QRMC’s expertise in risk and safety systems.
Key Outcomes: 2023 is the 3rd year in a row that Energy Qld has invited this audit team to conduct their annual audit. The audit process includes review of documentation, stakeholder interviews and in-field verification across the state to not only ensure compliance but also contribute recommendations for ongoing improvement to electrical safety across the business.

Context:VRTP require engineer certification on the temporary installations for their events, including Fright Nights and White Christmas at Movie World and Carnivale and Spooky Nights at Sea World.
Our Role:Engenuity were engaged to provide RPEQ sign-off on VRTP’s temporary installations. Our role was to review the design and final installation against the relevant Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 3002) to assess compliance.
Key Outcomes:Engenuity liaised with VRTP & their suppliers to provide guidance for any required rectification work to ensure compliance and safety. As a result, VRTP is assured that their temporary installation meets the requirements of the Standards and is safe for workers and patrons alike.
