Services:
  • Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Design
  • Electrical & P&ID Drafting
  • Commissioning
Context:

Eramet required an upgrade of their Heavy Mineral Concentrate bin at the Grand Cote Operations floating concentrator plant. Variability in the dredged ore was leading to significant recovery losses. Engenuity were engaged to conduct a feasibility study, and then provide a multidisciplinary, detailed design complete upgrade solution.

Our Role:Engenuity initially conducted a feasibility study to determine the best solution; then delivered a complete detailed design package, managing mechanical and structural partners. This involved the full development of detailed design documentation, and associated equipment tender reviews and recommendations. Engenuity is still to provide FAT and commissioning services later in 2025.
Key Outcomes:Engenuity together with partner mechanical and structural design firms have developed a bespoke density control bin designed to optimise the GCO HMC recovery. The upgrade is expected to be installed and operational late 2025.

Client:Gemlife
Duration:3 years
Industries:
  • Embedded Networks & LLCs
  • Renewables & Energy Storage
Services:
  • Renewables and BESS Design & Approvals
  • Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Design
  • Electrical & P&ID Drafting
  • Power System Modelling & Studies
Context:As part of their plans to implement renewables across their sites, our client required solar to be installed on every residence in their development, and a central battery to increase the site’s self-consumption. This site was already in construction at the time of engagement and is an embedded network; thus was limited by the existing electrical reticulation design and had to comply with stringent Energex requirements.
Our Role:Engenuity leveraged our wealth of experience in the design of compliant embedded generation installations on embedded networks to develop and implement a solution to control the large single- and three-phase inverter-based generation on the site. Engenuity produced an RPEQ certified embedded generation design, managed the application with Energex, and commissioned the installation.
Key Outcomes:Delivered a cost effective and quality solution that could control multiple brands and types of inverters. Energy Maestro (an embedded generation control system) was utilised in the design to achieve compliance with Energex and local requirements, while providing improved solar performance when compared with other solutions available on the market.

Client:Altum / Parkridge Noosa
Duration:2 years
Industries:
  • Embedded Networks & LLCs
  • Renewables & Energy Storage
Services:
  • Renewables and BESS Design & Approvals
  • Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Design
  • Electrical & P&ID Drafting
  • Power System Modelling & Studies
Context:The Parkridge Noosa residential site comprises a combination of townhouses, apartments, and community buildings. From the outset of the project Energex imposed a maximum limit of power they could draw from the grid. This limit was below the maximum demand expected for the site, so they needed an alternative solution to supply the difference.
Our Role:Engenuity leveraged our wealth of experience in the design of compliant embedded generation installations on embedded networks to determine a solution to the shortfall in power at the site. We worked with all stakeholders in the project to design an Energex approved hybrid solar and battery installation. The combination of solar and batteries are now used to meet the shortfall in power requirements for the site.
Key Outcomes:

Achieved a renewable based solution to provide the site’s maximum demand.

Energy Maestro (an embedded generation control system) was utilised in the design to achieve compliance with Energex and local requirements and customised to achieve the unique project objectives.

Client:GCWA / TEW
Duration:2 years
Industries:
  • Water & Pumping
Services:
  • Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Design
  • Earthing Design
  • High Voltage Engineering
  • Power System Modelling & Studies
  • Electrical & P&ID Drafting
Context:

Gold Coast Water Authority had two projects for infrastructure upgrades, these being a HV switchboard replacement and a transformer/LV switchboard replacement.

TEW Solutions was awarded the contract and engaged Engenuity to provide detailed design services to complement their installation.

Our Role:Engenuity provided full high and low voltage system design and associated power system analysis to ensure appropriate equipment was sourced & designed to match GCWA’s needs.
Key Outcomes:

Engenuity was able to work closely with TEW to ensure a high-quality replacement HV switchboard was supplied that met the requirements of GCWA.

Additionally, Engenuity was able to size the transformer and LV switchboard replacements to not only meet the existing requirements, but to allow for future expansion as per The Spit Master Plan. This gives both GCWA and the Gold Coast City Council confidence that the new electrical infrastructure will support their needs for years to come.

Client:Surf Lakes
Duration:5 Years
Industries:
  • Recreation & Leisure
Services:
  • Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Design
  • Power System Modelling & Studies
  • Commissioning
Situation:Engenuity was first approached by Surf Lakes with an idea, and asked if it could be turned into a real machine. The idea was to design and build a concentric wave machine intended to be part of a surf park development that could simultaneously produce multiple different wave breaks.
Our Role:Engenuity managed the design and delivery of all electrical, mechanical and controls engineering over a staged approach, producing a series of prototypes each increasing in size and level of automation. This role included assessing potential partners, managing vendors and specialist sub-contractors. Engenuity was also charged with the project, construction and commissioning management of the project.
The Outcome:What started as a dream was brought to life through innovative thinking and collaboration with other like-minded parties, particularly Aspec Engineering, resulted in a full-scale working prototype. The final machine was successfully commissioned in 2019.
