Client:IHC Mining / Iluka Euston
Duration:6 months / years
Industries:
  • Mineral Sands & Critical Minerals Processing
  • Mining & Quarries
  • Bulk Material Handling
  • Infrastructure
Services:
  • Feasibility Studies
  • Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Design
  • Power System Modelling & Studies
  • Electrical & P&ID Drafting
  • Earthing Design
  • High Voltage Engineering
Context:Iluka are expanding their portfolio of critical minerals mine sites, including the Euston project, which is comprised of five separate deposits containing zircon, titanium feedstocks and rare earths spread out over 62 km. Construction is scheduled to commence in 2026, with commissioning expected to follow in 2028.
Our Role:Engenuity and IHC Mining collaborated to conduct a pre-feasibility study that included electrical, instrumentation and control systems design. The study aimed to identify options to establish a new mineral sands processing plant and evaluate options for implementing fixed and mobile plant.
Key Outcomes:
  • Study provided three (3) different options for comparison, including fixed plant vs mobile plant.
  • Provision of capital and operational expenditure estimate to an accuracy of -15% to +30%.

Client:Cape Byron Management (CBM)
Duration:2 years
Industries:
  • Commercial & Industrial
Services:
  • Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Design
  • Earthing Design
  • Power System Modelling & Studies
  • High Voltage Engineering
  • Electrical & P&ID Drafting
  • Commissioning
Context:Cape Byron Management (CBM) had a contract for supplying power to new data centres on an adjacent piece of land. There was intense time pressure to supply, install and commissioning eight (8) transformers and an associated 11 kV switchboard to supply the data centres.
Our Role:Engenuity provided full high voltage system design, associated power system analysis and subsequent on-site commissioning for the site to ensure the safety and operation of the new infrastructure.
Key Outcomes:

Given the tight timeframes and limited infrastructure available, Engenuity was able to apply sound engineering decisions to ensure safety while minimising equipment changes, rework, schedule impacts and associated costs.

Engenuity was also able to provide project management and technical supervision services as part of on-site commissioning, working with CBM and the installation contractor to ensure safety and compliance.

The data centre site was successfully commissioned in mid-2022, but has since been decommissioned.

Client:EPC Solar / The NRMA
Duration:1 month per site
Industries:
  • Renewables & Energy Storage
  • Commercial & Industrial
Services:
  • Renewables and BESS Design & Approvals
  • Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Design
  • Electrical & P&ID Drafting
Context:Electric Vehicle (EV) Fast Charge Stations are being installed at hundreds of locations across the country. To meet compliance obligations of the various Australian states, our client required designs produced by professional engineers.
Our Role:Engenuity was engaged by an Electrical Contractor to support them in the delivery of many EV fast charging station sites around Australia. Engenuity produced the electrical designs and drafting deliverables to enable installation of compliant EV fast charging stations in multiple states and a range of streetscapes.
Key Outcomes:Developed a range of template design arrangements for different site layouts and equipment selections to meet the end client’s requirements. These were then adjusted to meet the constraints of each individual site, optimising the design process, cost and schedule.

Client:Austrak
Duration:2 months
Industries:
  • Commercial & Industrial
Services:
  • Auditing & Compliance
Context:As part of Austrak’s ongoing commitment to a high standard of electrical safety, Engenuity were invited to audit Austrak’s production sites. From these audits, the opportunity for a unified Electrical Safety Management System (ESMS) was identified.
Our Role:Engenuity were engaged to provide the comprehensive technical understanding of electrical safety and experienced electrical auditors necessary to inform an effective ESMS. The key deliverables required were an Electrical Safety Policy, Electrical Safety Management Plan and electrical procedure checklists and policies.
Key Outcomes:Applying learnings from the audit process and working collaboratively with Austrak, Engenuity ensured that the ESMS was practical and relevant to Austrak’s facilities while ensuring compliance across multiple state legislative requirements.
