ROYHILL

Context:

As part of the Western Australia State Governments development plan for Port Hedland, Roy Hill is increasing its export capacity at its port facility in the region. The development includes an additional ship berth at the Roy Hill site called Stanley Point Berth 3 (SP3).

Our Role:

In partnership with ASPEC, our role was to complete the electrical, instrumentation and control detailed design for the port marine package. Our scope included the design of new high & low voltage reticulation, switchroom, substations, motor control centres, drives, instrumentation, PLC & control systems.

Key Outcomes:

The project is ongoing and is due for completion in 2024, and is expected to provide the following key outcomes when constructed:

  • Increased capacity from 60 Mtpa to 110 Mtpa
  • New 40 Mtpa capacity shiploader.
  • Additional 4 km of conveying including an innovative ‘piggyback’ overland conveyor.
  • Separate switchroom, substation and control system from the existing operations, allowing for operational redundancy.
  • Use of an integrated 3D Navisworks model to show electrical equipment, cable ladder and lighting.
